Custom Earmolds

A comfortable, custom made earmold is extremely important in the successful fitting of both hearing protection and hearing instruments.

Since the earmold is a duplicate of the ear impression you send us, please take full and complete impressions, with sufficient canal depth. 

Please carefully inspect impressions before sending them to the earlab.  If the impression has questionable areas and is possibly inadequate, please take another impression.

Complete and full impressions are required at Hocks Hearing Healthcare Products to guarantee fit and comfort for all custom made earpieces.

Please look each impression over carefully.  For our information please note any abnormalities in the impression, that are natural for your patient, on your order form.

 Making a Good Impression

Remake Policy:  We will provide a free remake up to 30 days from the date the first mold was invoiced.  From 31 to 90 days, the cost of the remake is half the original charge.  After 90 days there is a full charge for remakes.  Complete and full impressions are required at Hocks Hearing Healthcare Products to guarantee fit and comfort for all custom made earpieces.  Whenever a remake or replacement mold is needed, be sure a new impression is sent, and the original mold is returned with the remake order.  Full information should be provided on the order form.

Custom Hearing Protection in Safety Colors

Hocks Custom Earmold Lab is now providing custom hearing protection in Safety Orange and Safety Green.  Safety colors, the colors not found in nature, are the ideal solution for industrial use and are popular with hunters and shooters.

Your Custom Hearing Protection may be made either with or without the world famous Hocks Noise Braker® Filters.  For options and cording, see below.

Swim Plugs

Prevent leakage with a seal only available in custom units.  No swim mold can provide a 100% water-tight seal.  However, a properly fitted mold will prevent most moisture from entering the ear.  They are recommended, by swimming instructors and doctors, for persons requiring protection of the outer ear.

Sleeping Plugs

The Sleep Plug is similar to a solid plug, but with the canal shortened for comfort when
lying on the ear.

Regular with Tube

• This is the most popular mold when the receiver is worn directly in the ear.  Made of clear lucite, this mold offers sturdiness, excellent conduction, high retention, and maximum comfort with a minimum of bulk.



Silhouette

• Sometimes called a "ring" or "skeleton", this popular style of invisible mold is lightweight and features concealment, control, and excellent retention.

3/4 Silhouette

• The 3/4 Silhouette is much the same as a Silhouette, but with a portion of the back ring removed.  This provides additional concealment and comfort if the ear is tender or comprised of hard cartilage.

1/2 Silhouette

• The 1/2 Silhouette is the same design as the Silhouette, but with a portion of the back ring, or anti-helix, removed, providing additional concealment and comfort.

Cross-Over Silhouette

• The Cross-Over Silhouette is designed as a normal silhouette, with the exception of a non-occluding opening where the entire canal is reduced in size to slightly larger than the tubing.  It is used in the most severe nerve cases, where it is desirous to get the greatest of high frequencies and the minimum amount of low frequencies.



Canal Lock

• This popular mold consists of the canal and lower portion of the concha rim for retention.
• The impression must be long and full with sufficient undercuts for retention.

Hearing Protection is made of translucent hypoallergenic silicone.  Coloring options are available.  Please note your preferences.  If you send a sample, we will match your color choice as closely as possible.

If your patient requests skin tone, please refer to our chart and choose the number that most closely matches your patient's coloring.  We have provided this chart to assist you, but the chart coloring is approximate only, as computer monitors vary greatly.

Hocks Custom Noise Braker®

• The Hocks Custom Noise Braker® is hearing protection made from an ear impression, with the Hocks Noise Braker Filter® inserted into the earmold. 

• Reduces all sound to approximately speech level
• No sounds over 80 dB will pass through the filter
• Converts sonic energy into thermal energy by means of compression acceleration

Phantom

• The Phantom is designed to provide an invisible mold with maximum strength and comfort.  This shell-shaped mold is recommended for those who require durability, but want concealment.

Phantom with Iros Canal

• This mold is the same as the Phantom, except the canal portion has been reduced to a diameter slightly larger than the tubing.  This provides an opening to "drain off" the lows and may be worn when a person has a hearing loss in one ear and near normal hearing in the other.

1/2 Phantom

• Excellent concealment and customer satisfaction is achieved with this inconspicuous design. The impression of the ear canal must be long and full, with sufficient undercuts for retention.

Canal Only Mold

• The Canal Only Mold is inconspicuous, and is very comfortable for sleeping.



 Shell

• The Shell is a lucite mold for use with ITEs

Metal Detectable

• Ball bearings can be added to a solid, filtered, or communication mold



Press-In Cord

• Unless specified, the Press-In Cord is the type used in our earmold lab.  A small hole is drilled into the mold and a pvc type cord is held snugly in place with a small plastic nipple.  The cord is easy to remove and reinstall.

Anchored Cord

• Anchored cords are permanent, are made of woven nylon, and are attached with embedded metal rings.
• NOTE:  Removal of this cord will permanently damage the mold.
