A properly fitted, comfortable, custom made earmold is extremely important in the successful fitting of both hearing protection and hearing instruments.

Since the earmold is a duplicate of the ear impression you send us, please take full and complete impressions, with sufficient canal depth. 

Please carefully inspect impressions before sending them to the earlab.  If there are questionable areas and the impression is possibly inadequate, please take another impression.

Complete and full impressions are required at Hocks Hearing Healthcare Products to guarantee fit and comfort for all custom made earpieces.

Please look each impression over carefully.  For our information, please note any abnormalities, natural for your patient, on your order form.

Common Impression Problems

Preparation must include routine hygienic procedures that are strictly followed.  Thoroughly wash hands with soap and water before and after making an impression.  Wash the specula of the otoscope, ear light tips, etc, with soap and water, then immerse in an antiseptic solution such as Zephiran Chloride.  Caution:  alcohol or other antiseptic injurious to plastics should be avoided.  The tools may be dried and placed in sanitary containers until needed.

Inadequate Impression Samples

Take your time with dam placement.  Hold your hand steady and apply the impression material with even pressure.  Inadequate placement results in an under-filled canal.
